Hal Abshire has been fishing tournaments since 1980. He founded the Carolina Bassers of Harnett County, North Carolina in 1982. It is one of the largest federated bass clubs in North Carolina. He was Member of the Year in 1990, 1996 and 2002 for the club. Hal was honored by the North Carolina B.A.S.S. State Federation as Bassmaster of the Year for 2002. He was also winner of the North Carolina Southern Regional Finals in 1996.

Hal retired from the United States Air Force in 1995 from Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. He is a co-founder of the Warriors on the Water event. This event paired up Military Personnel that had recently returned from war as a way to say “Thank You” for their service.

Hal is a product promoter and gracious spokesman for numerous companies. He believes in promoting his sponsors, because he believes in their products which give him the edge to fish at the level that he does.
