My name is Andrew Magee. I live in Greer, South Carolina where I was born
and have been raised my whole life. I started fishing with dad out of his small
bass boat when I was just old enough to pick up a rod. I caught a six pound bass
on one of the very first fishing trips that I can actually remember. Needless to
say I was "hooked" after that. I began fishing Junior Bassmaster tournaments
when was around 10 years old and once I was 15 the club members started letting
me fish with the guys. I fished out of the back of other peoples boats for the
next few years and was able to compete with the older guys on many occasions.
When I was 17yrs. old dad started letting me take his Ol boat out. I wanted to
prove that I had what it took to do it on my own, and I did. Winning several
Club tourneys and numerous top 3 finishes. I fished with several different clubs
over the next few years and learned a ton about fishing in general. I have come
to the realization that I learn something new each and every time I'm on the
water, whether it be from the fish or from something or someone. When I
graduated from High school I bought my first Bass boat even though I knew that I
couldn't afford it. I started fishing with more clubs and started winning some
team trail events with a couple of my buddies. I couldn't get enough. Excuse me,
I CAN'T get enough. This past season I finished 7th on the BAIT team trail which
isn't to bad considering we couldn't make it to one of the tournaments. I could
have gone to the classic on Kentucky lake but, my partners wife got real sick.
Its ok though because the classic is on my home lake next year and we will have
a real good shot at bringing home a new boat and some money. I am now 22 and I
am chasing my dream of going Pro and seeing myself on TV. I want to hold up that
FLW tour or Bassmaster Classic trophy at least once if not many times before I
die. I will be competing in the BFL and BAIT trails this year as well as two
different clubs and as many
opens as I have time for.
